What welding projects are you working on? Are you proud of something you built?

these are some holding pens i was working on during the spring. this picture shows the framing. i dont know why but was having a very hard time downloading pics to this site. hopefully i can remember how i did it and post more.

That looks a lot like a prison in the background...

Would "People cages" be more accurate?

all i'll say is if you look on a map it's a very small island next to la guardia airport in nyc

I'm happy to say that that's the only island in NYC that I've never been on. :D

So will you be building any of these for " Stockton " - seems like they need some now that " Clay Morrow " is incarcerated ! - & be careful not to leave any screwdrivers laying around !

All joking aside you get some varied & unusual work - but you'd think they could have afforded some clean new material for you to work with - that looks like they lucked out at a junkyard & found it !

don't even get me started on the material situation! i was t.d.y. to this unit and had nothing to do with purchasing material. the 2x2 tubing was the lightest wall available and was laying around for at least 1 winter so was almost rusted through before we set the first piece. in contrast- at my regular duty station i use 3/16 or 1/4 wall tubing for prison gates and pens that will never see a drop of weather.

i'm willing to wager you've never been to north brother island either. this is where typhoid mary was quarantined till her death.
