HELLO Here agen... some weld on a truck fuel tank. Good thing was that I was enable to wash that inside out of DIESEL. And a better thing that it was only diesel ( KABOOM AND A MUSHROOM LOOKED TANK) This was my first tank repair its a 200L. And there is some stick-tig practise, I leaved that hole in the midle so folks can sea how many beads its takes to get that high. Its about 22mm V groove, allmoust 1INCH thick. I may have a job come at litle while MIG -TIG needs to be sertifidet basic joints no pipe. I dont know am I enaf good its not any (super duper welding) but structual and everything in the midle what comes along. I think Im still a beginner even I can make a deasent looking welds MIG,TIG,STICK) but gues im scared em i good enaf Metal working/welding is so large area. But Im a bretty nice fellow (am I) and comes allong everybody and have a real intresting about welding and how to come better . I dont know? what you say thanks.

1 inch seems to be awfully thick for a truck gas tank if i understood you correctly. it looks like you fitted the patch into the opening. who determines what type of repair? how come you used that type of joint? why not a larger patch and a lap weld all around??

Okay, I've figured it out.

The 22mm weld (1st picture) is a practice piece or test piece. (You can see the edges of the plates.)

The tank repair (5 or 6mm?) is a different project.

Aleksi86's pictures usually appear in reverse order from what he intends.

Both look fine to me.

That 22mm looks really nice. You should have more confidence in yourself. I know, we are our own worst critics, but you can do this. You won't pass every test every time, but you're good enough to take the test, and see what happens.

The deisel tank looks good, too. Practical welding makes money!

jwmacawful YEAP Lap joint could been maybe better but owner of that truck had made that aluminium piece ready for me to make things faster (time is money in this case too) No doubt that someone else had make that TEN times better looking. But I usually weld OLD trucks what are bretty bangd up allready.

Yes that stick plate was 1inch. fuel tank 5mm aluminium. There was no demands on looks of the outside. It was made after cutting that piece of aluminium by hammering in a bench and bending by hands.. SORRY MY WRITINGS/ENGLISH SOME WORDS MAY SOUND FUNNY OR NOT MAKE ALLWAYS SENSE. BUT YOU OTTO ARE BRETTY GOOD FINDING THAT WHAT I MEAN AT PICTURES. STILL LEARNING TO USE THIS. I finded this one site called Fabrication....something there was some darm bretty mig welds. I knew that you can make Mig welds look like made Tig but these was nicely ones.

alexsi; i was thinking the pictures were all of the same job. anytime you put a patch on a gas tank and it doesn't leak it's a good job!
