That will work. Jody has a dual cap setup for different length rods from what I remember in one of his videos. You improved on it. I use all my stubbies asap when I can for little insignificant welds or tacks before I grab a new rod.

That's my other stubby. And I also use it asap when the occasion arises.
Your's is in tubes? Mine is in the recycled tubes that Radnor puts their junk in. My new LWS sells rod by the pound and puts it in bags...sometimes I take it out...sometimes I don't take it out. I just opened a 30 year old box of 4043 rods I got from a retired welder and they work better than the 4043 I just bought new a month ago. Must be the China syndrome.

ya gotta have tubes!! come on Jeff get with the program...
Here's how I made my rod holder. I used old rectangular tube I saved for such a job. I Blasted the paint off with my HF Blasting cabinet, it did a great job even though the media I was using was medium/fine glass bead.
