Hi all,
Newbie here. Starting a project with 12ga CorTen plate using Mig. I've read online that the welding wire should match the composition of the steel so that the oxidation will look consistent. I'm having a hard time finding the correct wire they suggest in smaller spools. They call out ER80S-G or ER70C-6M. Anyone have experience with this and how important is it to the finished look (Sculpture cube).

I’ve welded lots of Corten with standard MIG wire but never for “artistic” purposes. You might consider using Silicon Bronze MIG wire so you won’t get any oxidation over time. It’s plenty strong enough. ER80 is more ductile than ER70 so I use it primarily for CroMo tubing where strength is a consideration.
