Picked up some Excalibur & the slag seems real hard to remove, a lot harder that the Hobart 7018 that I was using.
Is that the way it is?

It’s been my experience that amps help when the slag is tough to remove. Got any pictures you can post?

It's done & painted. Can't remember how to figure the amperage, 60% of the 40-190 range. So I think it should be around 130A kind of high for 3/32 7018 maybe.

I run 90ish amps for 3/32. I’m right about 122 for 1/8.

At 130amps I’d be on 1/8, and running long extension leads allowing for the drop and I’d be holding a cherry bomb for an electrode!

The leads aren't too long 25' ground & maybe 35' for electrode, I've always thought the amperage was low on this welder. Suppose I could try my Thunder bolt & give it a try, I don't think I've ever ran it over 110-115 on 3/32.
