Answered my questions.
Don't lose any sleep over it, Dave ;)

I would want to know why I shouldn't believe them?
7018 H4r IS NOT moisture resistant, its still should be treated like LoHi, in a 250deg oven.

Well, I won't lose sleep over the fact that Lincoln disagrees with you.

"This is an optional moisture resistant designator (R), which indicates a low-hydrogen electrode’s ability to meet specific low-moisture pickup limits under controlled humidification tests."

I'm just puzzled why you made the statement to begin with? :?:

No hard feelings man :D

it's all good, Dave :D
I some how thought it was described as a moisture resistant rod coating.

I know this is an old thread, but some info from Euroland, Ireland specifically.

In my pipe welding course for part of the 6inch schedule 80 we used 6011 root and 6013 fill and cap all on DCEN.

We also did 7018 fill and caps
Tig roots.

Our first process in pipe welding school was the 6" 6011 and 6013 all uphill.
When we moved on to 7018 we all found it easier compared 6013. Anyone who passed x-ray on 6011 & 6013 wouldn't have any issues with the 7018.

We all found 7018 easier to use and just an over all nicer experience.

6011 & 6013 is often used for water pipe in the field.

But it really depends what your doing who you're working for and what there procedure is.
For gas works it's 6010 and 8010, 6010 root and hot pass 8010 fills and cap, with the root uphill everything else is downhill.

On the penetration side DCEP does give a little more penetration particularly in the root. But to be honest it's not a dramatic difference.

We used Lincoln and ESAB 6013 I can't remember the exact name of the rods.
But We all preferred the ESAB electrodes for whatever that's worth.
