I bought a pilot arc plasma cutter because I have a supply of .030" thick powder coated steel sheet. And also sheet stock that is well rusted. Works great, however... Now I would like to cut several identical parts using a template. The standoffs on the AG60 tips do not lend themselves to using with templates. A non-pilot arc PT31 with the smaller diameter contact tip would be better. So some questions...

1) Is there a problem with using the AG60 tips without the standoffs with tip making direct contact ? I expect the tips would just burn up faster like the PT31?

2) If direct contact is OK, will I need to disconnect the pilot arc wire from machine?

Thanks.
