Hello all,
The name is Igor and online I go by MosinVirus.
I love working with my hands and have always been good at removing material. Being limited by fasteners to add material I always wanted to learn to weld.
Well, having been recently laid off from work and getting a call from a local college about a spot being available in their Fabrication and Manufacturing Welding track (I was on a waiting list for a few years) I decided to jump on the chance. It is a 6 month program and I attend in the evenings.
Started on August 17th.
Have done a bit of Oxy/Acetylene welding on 1/16"-ish mild steel.
Butt, lap, T joints. All flat position. Have been transferred to MIG and have done some welds on 1/8" mild steel using 0.035" wire.
Butt, lap, T, open corner in flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions. Have now been transferred over to TIG.
On 1/16" mild steel again, 3/32 tungsten, using 0.063" S2 filler.
So far have done beads on plate, lap joints and currently on Ts.
I am fascinated and can't wait to get to know and do more
