Hi to you all,

I am a proper newbie.
And I have a very basic question. I recently purchased a Stamos Welding Group S-MMA-250PI.2 Arc Welder
See here
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inverter-Weldi ... d_source=1

The problem I have straight out of the box, is which cable goes where? There is nothing in the instructions.

Does the stinger go to Positive?

Many thanks
Andi

Like Tweake said, for most stick rods, your ground clamp installs in the - connector, the rod is attached to the + lead. This is referred to as DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive) or Reverse Polarity. When you switch the cables for certain rods, you are then running DCEN (Direct Current Electrode Negative) or “Straight Polarity”.

When you buy stick rods, they have a code to them. 70 series is the tensile strength (70k psi) then a number 1, 2, etc, refers to the position you can use (not all rods weld downhill) and then the last number is the type of flux. Here in the states 7018 is very common followed by 6010.
