Along time ago when I was 16 I learned to gas weld so I could work on my first car. Back then the welding rod of choice was a coat hanger and some brass rod when I could afford it. Later, I started a machine shop where I stick welded almost every day for about 10 years.
I saw some posts about welders buying "auto darkening" welding lenses that didn't seem to work as expected, and it bothered me that some people were so cavalier about there eye safety. As an employer I became aware of some safety requirements for welders and I will in a few days post some information I put together concerning eye safety.
