Cutting torch Cart
I have my newly born-again craftsman cutting torch , regulator(s), upgraded gas bottles to B and M from the really tiny MC Bottles and had no serious way to use the setup safely. Home depot bucket started out as a joke but then got old real fast…….. Having eyeballed my LWS for a cart and pintrest fo...

Re: Polarity on Stick
Tables of generalised electrode properties are a good indicator but the manufacturer's data is more accurate for a specific product. On this 7018 data sheet, 7018.png The polarity is given as AC, DC+ or DC-. However, the note says that DC- is recommended for root passes. Jack Thanks. I interested 6...

Polarity on Stick
I have never used my welder for stick and I want to get one pound samples of E7018 and E6011 to try out. I saw on a chart that these are for DC+. What happens if you run these on DC- ? ALSO: plastic?? The amazon ad reads this way. Any ideas? Hobart H119944-R01 1-Pound Plastic 7018 Stick Welding Elec...

Re: Craftsman acetylene regulator: 31320281
I took her to my LWS and they said craftsman regulators were very good and they do not make them like they use to. This is a Harris regulator that stopped production in the 1990s. Luckily for me, they have a guy who rebuilds these beauties in his sleep and it will take about 10 days and about $100. ...

Re: Craftsman acetylene regulator: 31320281
Where could I take my regulator to get checked out. Also, what adapter do I need for these smaller bottles? Another odd thing i noticed is cranking down on the black knob never reaches the end. I'll leave those questions for someone closer to you to answer. When the gas is turned on, the need pegs ...

Craftsman acetylene regulator: 31320281
Where could I take my regulator to get checked out. When the gas is turned on, the need pegs over into the red an is adjusted somehow through the cutting torch. Argon Cylinder Trade In Math
I have two argon cylinders, an 80 and a 20. I exchange them for refills every so often. The smaller is my back up but when I switch them over, the setup malfunctions and it leaks.
Question: would you trade these two cylinders for the next larger size, a #4 (125) if they are willing?

Re: Upgrade Regulator for AHP 201
I realise it doesn't help you much but I am curious how that is an upgrade. I would go to the ball type rather than from it. Is what you have of poor quality - or broken - that you want to change? Tweak , Jack The gauge said 400-500 psi forever and then my Aluminum welds started blackening like I d...

Upgrade Regulator for AHP 201
Hi,
I am interested in replacing/upgrading my regulator.
Doesn't have to have the flow meter floating ball sightglass.
This is what I have now.
I kind fancy this Victor gauge.
Any ideas?

It seems like every ad I have seen says the #5 for the 9torch uses the wedge, and slit for the 17–even on the furick site.
This set right.

Furick ALLY#5 for #17 torch
WTAT is out of ally#5 pyrex cup for 17 torch, so I had to order from amazon. This is what I received, twice. It appears to be an ally#5 for a #9 torch. The white insulator will not fit on my CK17 and it comes with a wedge collet which i think only ships with the ally for the 9 torch. Can someone ple...

Re: How hot does your tig torch get?
Thanks to everyone! I am dealing with issues with my setup and just ruling out issues that could contribute to the big picture. I am liking ally welding and keep it under 150amps more like 125-140 3/32”… on 1/8” material. My torch starts to get hot but Seems like I am not really welding dozens of be...

How hot does your tig torch get?
I have a ck17 flex head. I have been practicing on aluminum but it seems like i can perhaps run 10 four inch beads on coupons, maybe less, and my torch feel hot .

Re: Argon flow meter and the AHP201xd
It looks like a cheap generic co2/ar meter you see everywhere. pinchy flow valve seems crude. dual for purge cavity right. i bought a plastic flow with the black base and clear tube to measure flow and though it is in l/m it was less than what the cfm reading said. the inlet on most come out of the ...

Argon flow meter and the AHP201xd
Hi,
I have had my machine for about 2 yrs and I have the co2/ar meter that came with it.
For those of you that have the same machine, can you rate this flow meter?
How accurate is this meter and if you were to upgrade what would you get?

You want to be between 25-35%. thank you for responding. I am looking for a different answer. There’s little value in knowing only what you have been tau...

Alphatig 201 AC balance setting not clear
Hi, I am looking for any fellow owners of this tig box who can shed some light on its operation. I was looking at the woefully written user manual for this TIG machine and I cannot tell if the AC balance adds NEGATIVE or adds cleaning when the knob is turned. The literature is not clear to me and I ...
